Who we are
John Hansen Founder and CEO
John Hansen is an influential executive consultant and recognized leader in clean energy, climate, and circular economy innovation. With nearly two decades of international experience, he brings proven expertise in business strategy, project and partnership development, and high-level engagement with corporations, governments, and multilateral institutions. As Founder and CEO of The Paradigm Project, John advises organizations on sustainable business strategy, clean energy transitions, and circular economy design.

John’s career spans senior roles across the clean energy and sustainability ecosystem. HIs previous roles include: Development Executive, North America for Powerledger, a blockchain- and AI-enabled clean energy software development company; international consultant for the United Nations on climate finance and renewable energy project preparation in developing countries; Senior Energy Consultant for Tesla, a clean energy, battery storage, and electric vehicle company; President of Patriot Solar, the solar division of a regional mortgage lending company; International Business Development for Cenergie/Cygnus Atratus, a fuel cell and waste-to-hydrogen company; and, Global Strategy Advisor for Citizens’ Climate Lobby, advocating for efficient, effective and equitable carbon pricing policy and civil society engagement with governments, the UNFCCC, World Bank, and the private sector.
He holds a Global MBA in Sustainable Business (Renewable Energy concentration) and a BFA from the University of Maryland, with executive training and certifications from the Yale Center for Business and the Environment, Frankfurt School of Management and Finance, and in Permaculture, Green Building, Industrial Ecology, and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
